50 YEARS SINCE THEY FORMED, 40 YEARS SINCE THEY SPLIT-WHO-THE BEATLES OF COURSE!
Vancouver uptown travel agent just returned from his Liverpool birthplace to report on the latest arrangements in the pipeline to celebrate 50 years since The Beatles formed!
This is a big year for Beatles fans - "It's 50 years since they formed, 40 years since they split... combine this with what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday and the 30th anniversary of his untimely death"
Where are the celebrations taking place, only one place qualifies, LIVERPOOL, their birth place.
Now Liverpool is even easier to get to from Vancouver, just a swift change via Amsterdam and land at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport where you will see ‘The Yellow Submarine” to greet you and that’s only the start.
International Beatle Week kicks off the momentous year from 25th to 31st August 2010 with a multitude of events.
Imagine “A Warm Liverpool Welcome” gig at The Cavern Club featuring music from The Mersey Beatles, the Cavern Club’s resident band.
Join in The Casbah Club Party for an afternoon of live music from 12 bands from all over the world, 50 years on from the true birth place of The Beatles where it all happened before they flew off to Hamburg to launch their international career.
The Bootleg Beatles continue the party mood at Liverpool’s Royal Philharmonic Hall playing music from not only The Beatles but also The Kinks, The Stones, The Who and many more accompanied by a fantastic multi-media show originally staged in Las Vegas.
How cool would it be to experience an evening of Peace, Love & Understanding at The 5th largest cathedral in the world, Liverpool Cathedral, the venue where Paul McCartney failed an audition as a choirboy! A non-religious, highly spiritual concert including gospel choirs, rock bands, soloists, string quartets, dance and theatre.
The highlight of International Beatle Week is the Matthew St Music Festival, a totally FREE two day musical extravaganza thanks to Liverpool City Council, with an attendance of over 300.000 people and 200 bands playing every type of music imaginable-rock, pop, soul, blues, country, punk and of course The Beatles.
